Abstract (English):In the German tradition of educational theory (Allgemeine Pädagogik), it has been common to invoke the idea of an 'internal normative structure' of educational practice. Johannes Drerup critically discusses this idea, and claims that there is a specific model of justification inherent to education. According to his view, paternalism might be considered an 'indigenous concept' of educational theory, and the 'indigenous model of justification' when it comes to educational practice. On the one hand, this essay takes up Drerup's idea that the sphere of education has a specific justificatory structure. On the other hand, however, it calls into question whether referring to the concept of paternalism best elucidates normative problems in education. This essay outlines a concept of education as educational address in asymmetric constellations and tries to make clear, against this background, what it means to justify education in ethical terms.
