| Abstract (German): | Schule hat den Auftrag, demokratisches Lernen zu ermöglichen und zu vermitteln - sie ist aber von ihrer Tradition und Organisation her gesehen nicht von sich aus demokratisch gehaltvoll. Welche Wege, Handlungsformen und vor allem welche Aspekte der Schulentwicklung dazu beitragen können, Schule demokratisch zu gestalten, ist das Thema dieses Beitrages. Dabei werden der praktische Schwerpunkt der Demokratiepädagogik skizziert und die Leistung ihrer Forschungsansätze wie auch die Kritik an diesen mit einem Akzent auf der deutschsprachigen Diskussion und Entwicklung nachgezeichnet. | Abstract (English): | Schools have the task to facilitate and to impart democratic learning - but regarding their tradition and organization, they themselves are not substantially democratic. This article deals with the question, which ways, activities, and especially which aspects of school development can contribute to a democratic design of schools. Therefore, the author sketches the practical focus of democratic education and traces both the achievements of its research approaches and the criticism of those, focusing on the German discussion and development.
