| Abstract (German): | Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht, wie durch graphische Unterstützung die Aneignung von Wissen und die Veränderung mentaler Strukturen unterstützt werden kann. Dazu wird die Beziehung zwischen den Symbolsystemen von Graphiken und ihrer internalen Repräsentation diskutiert. Es wird außerdem gezeigt, daß durch die Trennung einer syntaktischen, semantischen und pragmatischen Komponente bei einer Grammatik für Graphiken auf dem Hintergrund der vorliegenden empirischen Ergebnisse Präskriptionen für den Einsatz graphischer Mittel für Instruktionsziele abgeleitet werden können. | Abstract (English): | This paper is concerned with the problems of using instructional graphics for the acquisition of knowledge and the modification of mental structures. Therefore the relation between the symbol systems of graphics and their internal representation is discussed. Moreover it is demonstrated, that the decomposition of a grammar for graphics into the syntactical, semantical and pragmatical components together with the results of cognitive research allows the formulation of prescriptions for instructional design.
