| Abstract (German): | Mit "Allgemeinbildung" war eigentlich eine ganzheitliche Ausbildung der eigenen Fähigkeiten gemeint, im Kontext der Schule blieb davon kaum mehr als die Summe der als verbindlich definierten Inhalte. Weil diese Verbindlichkeit nicht mehr gilt, stehen Schulen vor der Aufgabe, aus ihren konkreten Bedingungen heraus ein neues Bildungsverständnis in Gestalt subjektorientierter Lehr- und Lernformen zu entwickeln. | Abstract (English): | "General education" (Allgemeinbildung) can mean a holistic development of competencies, but in the context of schooling, it has had the tendency to become little more than the sum ofobligatorily defined content. As this obligatory aspect no longer applies, schools are confronted with the task of developing a new understanding of education in approaches to subject-oriented teaching and learning.
