| Abstract (German): | Vor 250 Jahren wurde Joachim Heinrich Campe (1746 bis 1818), der bedeutendste Repräsentant der pädagogischen Aufklärung in Deutschland, geboren. In den letzten zwanzig Jahren konnte ein umfangreiches Quellenmaterial neu erschlossen werden, das ein gegenüber der bisherigen Rezeptionsgeschichte anderes Bild von Campe nahelegt: Während der Philanthropismus vielfach als ein Konzept "platter Nützlichkeit" gedeutet wird, ist zu bedenken, daß Campe auf die politischen und pädagogischen Probleme seiner Zeit reagieren mußte und nur deshalb so produktiv und erfolgreich sein konnte, weil er sein Leben selbstbewußt und selbstverantwortlich gestalten mußte und zu einem unerbittlichen Realismus gezwungen war. | Abstract (English): | 250 years ago, Joachim Heinrich Campe, the most important representative of the pedagogic enlightenment in Germany, was born. During the last 20 years a lot of authentic material could be made accessible. While "philantropism" has often been explained as a concept of "simple utility", it must be considered that Campe had to react to the political and pedagogic challenges of his period. He only could be so successful and productive, because he had to organize his life with self-confidence and because he was forced to a relentless realism. (DIPF/Orig.) |
