| Abstract (German): | Informationen sowie Desinformationen verbreiten sich in rasanter Geschwindigkeit. Unter diesen Bedingungen ergeben sich für die Wissenschaftskommunikation zahlreiche Herausforderungen. Studien aus der Medienwissenschaft zeigen, dass eine Korrektur von Falschinformation (Debunking) nicht ausreicht, um deren Verbreitung einzudämmen, sondern sogar den gegenteiligen Effekt mit sich bringen kann. Der vorliegende Beitrag diskutiert den Ansatz des Prebunkings als eine geeignete Kommunikationsstrategie im Sinne der Vermittlung von wissenschaftlicher Vorsicht und demokratischem Skeptizismus. Anhand internationaler Anwendungsbeispiele und unter Rückbezug auf wissenschaftliche Evaluationen zeigen die Autor*innen Potenziale und Grenzen dieser Kommunikationsstrategie auf. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | Information as well as misinformation are spreading at a rapid pace. Under these conditions, a large number of challenges arise in scientific communication. Studies from media science show that correcting false information (debunking) is not enough to curb its spread but may even have the opposite effect. This article discusses the approach of prebunking as a suitable communication strategy for transmitting scientific caution and democratic skepticism. Using examples of international applications and referencing scientific evaluations, the authors show the potentials and limits of this communication strategy. (DIPF/Orig.) |
