Abstract (German):Die hier präsentierte Teilstudie untersucht die Stellung des Politikunterrichts und politischer Themen an den drei zentralen Schulformen der Sekundarstufe I in Nordrhein-Westfalen: Gesamtschule, Gymnasium und Realschule. Sie gehört zu einem größeren Forschungsprojekt, das die sozialwissenschaftliche Domäne in der Sekundarstufe I im Ländervergleich zum Gegenstand hat. Die empirische Studie analysiert die Position von Politik in den Stundentafeln der Schulformen und in den Kernlehrplänen der drei Fächer „Politik“ (Gesamt- und Realschule) und „Politik/Wirtschaft“ (Gymnasium). Sie vergleicht das Gewicht des Themenbereichs Politik mit dem von Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft. Dazu zieht sie die verpflichtenden Vorgaben für die Fächer und die obligatorischen Inhaltsfelder heran. Diese Vorgaben werden systematisch quantifiziert, um mit Hilfe von empirischen Indikatoren die vom Gesetzgeber und vom Ministerium bestimmte Bedeutung von politischen Themen im Fachunterricht der nordrhein-westfälischen Schulen zu erfassen. Die Fächernamen lassen erwarten, dass Politik und politische Themen im Unterricht an der Sekundarstufe I in NRW ein erhebliches Gewicht haben. Konkreter kann man annehmen, dass der Themenbereich Politik in einem Schulfach „Politik“ deutlich überwiegt und in einem Schulfach „Politik/Wirtschaft“ mindestens die Hälfte der curricular definierten Inhaltsbereiche ausmacht. Abstract (English):The partial study presented here examines the position of politics lessons and political topics at the three main types of lower secondary school in North Rhine-Westphalia: comprehensive school, grammar school and secondary modern school. It is part of a larger research project that focuses on the social science domain at lower secondary level in a state comparison. The empirical study analyses the position of politics in the timetables of the school types and in the core curricula of the three subjects ‘Politics’ (comprehensive school and secondary school) and ‘Politics/Economics’ (grammar school). It compares the weight of the subject area of politics with that of society and economics. To do this, it uses the mandatory requirements for the subjects and the mandatory content areas. These requirements are systematically quantified, in order to record the importance of political topics in subject teaching in North Rhine-Westphalian schools as determined by the legislator and the ministry with the help of empirical indicators. The subject names suggest that politics and political topics are given considerable weight in lessons at lower secondary level in NRW. More specifically, it can be assumed that the subject area of politics clearly predominates in the school subject ‘Politics’ and accounts for at least half of the content areas defined in the curriculum in the school subject ‘Politics/Economics’. Empirically, these expectations are clearly disappointed. (Authors)
