Abstract (English): | The authors first address the concept of instructional quality as an interdisciplinary research endeavour in both educational science and subject-matter didactics. In addition to the existing theoretical approaches, which consider the subject-specific characteristics of the respective foreign languages discussed in the individual contributions, the article also introduces the perspective of educational science. Basic concepts of research on instructional quality, its background and state of the art as well as central models and methods are explained. This is followed by an outline of how this field of research has been received in foreign language didactics so far, with a focus on the subject of English. On this basis, some further research questions, and gaps with regard to foreign language teaching are formulated with a view to the future. The chapter concludes with a brief overview of the contributions in this volume. (DIPF/Orig.) |
