| Abstract (German): | Im Beitrag wird die Bedeutung der Erforschung von Schülervorstellungen zu einem Themenkomplex weitergeführt, indem die Autor*innen am Themenbereich der Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung aufzeigen, dass hier insbesondere die Erforschung von Einstellungen notwendig ist, um der Komplexität nachhaltigen Handelns gerecht zu werden. | Abstract (English): | The study “Just Gotta Save the World...” explores elementary school children’s attitudes towards climate change and sustainable behavior. Considering the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), education for sustainable development (ESD) plays a crucial role in fostering broad societal participation. Despite criticism regarding the feasibility of the SDGs, the focus remains on empowering individuals to contribute to sustainable development. Through an exploratory survey using a simplified questionnaire based on the SDGs, 44 students in grades three and four ranked the importance of these goals. The results show that children prioritize issues like hunger and health but express a strong interest in learning more about environmental protection. Although limited by its small sample size, the study provides valuable insights into how elementary-aged children perceive sustainability and their readiness to act in favor of climate protection.
