| Abstract (German): | Die Autorin betrachtet den Zeitraum zwischen 1658 und 1808. Sie zeigt auf, dass die Verwendung von Bildern und Bildergeschichten in der Pädagogik auf eine lange Tradition zurückblickt und somit in der Aufklärung die Nutzung von Comics als Bildungsmedien gewissermaßen vorbereitet wurde. Um 1800 konnte sich im Zuge des Neuhumanismus dann jedoch eine Position durchsetzen, die Lernen durch textergänzende bildliche Darstellungen ablehnte. Die Nachwirkungen dieser ideengeschichtlichen Wurzeln des Widerstands gegen Bilder bzw. Comics reichten bis in die zweite Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | The article is intended as an educational-historical commentary on comics as educational media. On the basis of early modern considerations on what speaks in favor of the combination of text and image, up to the later sustainably destructive verdict against it, it explores by way of example what educational theory classics once contributed to the rise and fall of a concept that aimed to facilitate the process of appropriation in self-learning as well as in school lessons by means of depiction. Although this undeservedly relegates the classics to the status of prehistory, it also proves that they can be used for a deeper insight into the question of appropriation – and thus for a topic that is as relevant to educational theory today as ever.
