Abstract (English):This paper examines high-immersion VR in (foreign) language learning, focusing on teacher education. It identifies three approaches: (1) VR in teaching simulations, (2) VR for language competence development, and (3) social VR for expanded learning spaces. It highlights potential alongside technological and practical challenges and proposes guiding questions for VR app selection, scenario design, and teacher support. From a postdigital perspective, VR is framed not as a neutral tool but as part of broader socio-material transformations that change language education and interaction. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (German):Der Artikel analysiert den Einsatz hoch-immersiver virtueller Realität im Kontext des (Fremd-)Sprachenlernens und -lehrens. Die Autorinnen identifizieren in ihrem Überblicksbeitrag drei verschiedene zentrale didaktische Zugänge der Lehrer*innenbildung und diskutieren sowohl die Potenziale als auch die technologischen und praktischen Herausforderungen aus einer postdigitalen Perspektive.
