| Abstract (German): | In diesem Aufsatz wird gezeigt, weshalb selbst liberaldemokratische Gesellschaften Wertbindungen benötigen und wie sich diese Überzeugung in der neueren Debatte um den Kommunitarismus durchgesetzt hat. Dabei werden wichtige Etappen der amerikanischen Diskussion der letzten dreißig Jahre nachgezeichnet, wobei es sich herausstellt, dass sämtliche Vorschläge, wie sich das Verhältnis von liberaldemokratischer Gesellschaft und Patriotismus denken lässt, dilemmatisch ausfallen. Die Analyse zeigt indes, dass neben aporetischen Modellen auch solche existieren, die "bloß" in Bezug auf die Praxis zwiespältig sind. Der Aufsatz schließt mit Überlegungen, wie durch geeignete pädagogische Institutionen den monierten praktischen Gefahren begegnet werden kann. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | The author shows why even Liberal Democratic societies require a commitment to value Systems and how this conviction has gained ground in the recent debate on communitarianism. Important stages in the American discussion of the last thirty years are outlined; it emerges that all propositions on how to conceive the relation between the Liberal Democratic society and patriotism need to be dropped. A closer analysis, however, reveals that in addition to aporetic models there are those that are "merely" questionable as regards their practical value. The article concludes with reflections on how suitable pedagogical institutions could help deal with the practical dangers pointed out. (DIPF/Orig.) |
