| Abstract (German): | Erwerbstätige Eltern sind herausgefordert, Arbeitszeiten, Kinder- und Familienzeiten so auszubalancieren und zu koordinieren, dass ein funktionsfähiges alltägliches Zeitgefüge entsteht. In diesem Beitrag werden Ergebnisse von Interviews mit Eltern, deren Arbeitszeiten flexibel sind und die Arbeitszeitkonten führen, sowie von Interviews mit Kindern einiger dieser Eltern vorgestellt. Besonders im Blick sind Formen des 'Time Sharing' zwischen Müttern und Vätern als innovative Formen des Umgehens mit dem Zeitproblem. Es zeigt sich, dass flexible Arbeitszeiten nicht in allen Familien die gleichen Folgen auf die Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie haben; ihr Einfluss entsteht erst im Zusammenhang der jeweiligen Familiensituation und der Vorstellungen der Eltern von Familienleben und Kindheit. Trotz aller Differenzen werden einige übergreifende positive wie auch negative Auswirkungen erkennbar. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | Employed parents have to produce a time structure of their everyday life by balancing and co-ordinating working times and time for child care and family life. In the article, results of interviews with parents who work up to flexible time patterns and use work time accounts as well as of interviews with some of these parents' children are presented. A special focus is on "time-sharing" between mothers and fathers as an innovative way to deal with the time problem. It can be shown that flexible working times do not influence family time directly, rather they interact with the particular situation of a family and the parents 'particular concept of family life and childhood. Thus in different families, flexible working time influences work-life-balance in different ways. In spite of the differences some overwhelming positive as well as negative consequences are revealed.
