| Abstract (German): | Nicht nur im deutschsprachigen, sondern auch im englischsprachigen Raum wird intensiv über die Zukunft der Lehrerbildung diskutiert. Am Beispiel der Reformdiskussionen in den USA und in England werden die hauptsächlichen Reformpostulate und die eingeleiteten Reformen dargestellt: nationale Standardisierung, zunehmende Kompetenz- und Praxisorientierung der Ausbildungen sowie Funktionalisierung von Schul- und Lehrerbildungsreform im Dienste der nationalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Die Entwicklungen tendieren hin zu einem "training-on-the-job"-Modell der Lehrerbildung, in dem die erziehungswissenschaftliche Theorie randständig, die Hoffnung auf eine Verbesserung der Schulen durch eine praxisorientierte Lehrerbildung übersteigert und die Deprofessionalisierung des Lehrberufs in Kauf genommen wird. | Abstract (English): | Not only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also in the United Kingdom and in the United States, the future of teacher education is a matter for intensive discussion. On the basis of the debates on educational reform in the US and in GB, the major reform postulates and the reforms that have already been initiated are outlined: national standardization, an increasing orientation towards competency and towards educational practice in teacher education, as well as a functionalization of school reforms and of the reform of teacher education in the Service of national competitiveness. The trend is towards a training-on-the-job-model of teacher education in which the pedagogical theory is marginalized, the hope for an improvement of the schools through practice-oriented teacher education is exaggerated and the deprofessionalization of the teaching profession is accepted.
