(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | Jürgen Zinnecker's proposal that the concept of socialization should be replaced by „self socialization" is critically analysed. His argument that the concept of socialization implies a socio-deterministic bias may be valid for the early functionalist theory. However, since the sixties the discourse in socialization theory has changed to subject-centred and interactionist models. To deny the influence of social conditions in human development (i.e. socialization ) would lead to unacceptable difficulties and contradictions. A reconciliation of both arguments seems possible by a more thorough analysis of the process of subject-environment interaction and its consequences for the subject's further socialisation.
