Abstract (English):Due to the growing interest within the field of music and music education in practice theory, this article argues for a specification of music as social practice on the basis of Hillebrandt’s principles of practice theory and Schatzki’s elaboration of practice. The character of practice as an organized nexus of actions, material events, association of human bodies and material artifacts, and integrated praxis formations is discussed in relation to music. Furthermore, the article outlines a concept of (musical) action along the lines of collective or individual accountability of practice as well as intentional or habitual action. (DIPF/Orig.)
