(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | The paper reports empirically on the little-noticed fact that the development of teaching materials has been outsourced to the educational industry. Diverse teaching materials are designed outside the school and within this industry. Observable development practices are the centre of attention in this ethnographic study. By way of example, the paper asks how physical experiments are developed for primary schools. In this researched 'pre-school' stage of the experiments, the paper illustrates practices and processes that are constitutive for the experiments, but are not intended for teaching. Moreover, this paper opens up a debate on educational requirements and subject-matter objectives, by referring back to science and technology studies, the concept of 'scientific literacy', and the perspectives of 'Sachunterricht'. It is argued that the educational potential of a modern understanding of experiments can be utilised for teaching. (DIPF/Orig.) |
