| Abstract (German): | Ausgangspunkt ist die These, daß pädagogische Bilder besonders anfällig für den sogenannten Flüchtigkeitsfehler sind, d.h. für eine unangemessene oberflächliche Verarbeitung durch den Lerner. Diese These wird gestützt zum einen durch Befunde aus der Medienforschung, zum anderen durch kognitions- und wahrnehmungspsychologische Annahmen zur Verarbeitung von Abbildungen. Eine Studie des Verfassers zeigt auf, daß es pädagogische Bedingungen gibt, unter denen der Flüchtigkeitsfehler besonders wahrscheinlich ist. Im Anschluß an die theoretische Analyse des Flüchtigkeitsfehlers wird untersucht, wie die Pädagogik mit diesem Phänomen umgeht. Zwar herrscht die Ansicht vor, Bilder seien ein "leichtes Medium" und würden problemlos verarbeitet; aber ein Blick in die Geschichte zeigt, daß es eine Tradition gibt, die der flüchtigen Verarbeitung von Bildern entgegenzuwirken versuchte. | Abstract (English): | The article starts with the thesis that illustrations in learning materials are susceptible to an only superficial processing by learners. The thesis is supportedby media research with motion pictures as well as by an analysis of the processing of illustrations. An empirical study of the author reveals some situative variables which favour a superficial picture processing. The theoretical analysis is followed by a look at the educational practice dealing with the superficial processing of pictures in learning materials. Actually, pictures are seen as "easy media" which are processed without any difficulties. In contrast, the early history of instructional pictures is characterized by educational efforts against a mindless processing by learners. (DIPF/Orig.) |
