| Abstract (German): | Die Autor*innen diskutieren, in welcher Weise das Fach Sachunterricht aus seinem Bildungsanspruch heraus es Kindern ermöglicht, ein selbstbestimmtes Leben in Bezug auf ihre je individuelle sexuelle Identität zu führen und welche Professionalisierungsaufgaben für Lehrkräfte damit einhergehen. | Abstract (English): | Gender and sexual diversity are topics that are only dealt with to a limited extent in the context of general studies lessons (‘Sachunterricht’). Although the subject is often assigned the task of providing initial sex education in schools, these topics are rarely included in classroom practice. Against this background, the article examines, on the basis of empirical data and studies, how the subject ‘Sachunterricht’ can contribute to preparing children for an autonomous and at the same time solidary life in a post-heteronormative society.
