| Abstract (German): | Der Beitrag bezieht sich auf Befunde einer empirischen Studie zu informellen Lernprozessen Jugendlicher durch Verantwortungsübernahme in Settings des freiwilligen Engagements. Die Autoren beschreiben, dass die untersuchten Settings Heranwachsenden spezifische Gelegenheiten bieten, um vielfältige unterschiedliche Kompetenzen zu entwickeln. Freiwilliges Engagement im Jugendalter zeigt auch im späteren Erwachsenenalter nachhaltige Ergebnisse und Effekte in Bezug auf Kompetenz und Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, Berufswahl sowie soziale und politische Partizipation. | Abstract (English): | This contribution is based on the results of an empirical study on young people's informal learning processes through taking on responsibility in voluntary settings. The authors describe that the investigated settings offer specific opportunities to young persons for developing various different competencies. Voluntary work in early youth shows sustainable impacts and effects even in later adult life with regard to competency and personal development, choice of occupation as well as social and political participation.
