| Abstract (German): | In der Diskussion über Bildungsstandards wird von einigen AutorInnen und Verbänden [z.B. dem Grundschulverband] die Forderung nach einem wissensbasierten Kerncurriculum abgelehnt. Diese Konfrontation beruht zum Teil auf Missverständnissen, die den Zielsetzungen und internationalen Erfahrungen nicht gerecht werden. [Nach Auffassung des Autors] spielt [bei der Kritik] auch eine Rolle, dass die mit starken Standards verbundenen Verfahren der Leistungsmessung und der Rechenschaftslegung einen fundamentalen Umbau der Schule notwendig machen. | Abstract (English): | In the discussion on educational standards some authors and associations reject the claim for a knowledge-based core curriculum. This confrontation is partly based on misunderstandings which ignore the aims and international empirical knowledge. Furthermore, however, it seems that the negative response might also be explained by the fact that strong standards necessitate new methods to assess achievement as well as improved accountability - and thus result in a fundamental restructuring of the present school.
